E-Energy: Das "Internet der Energien"

Aus einem E-Energy-Technologiewettbewerb gingen sechs Modellprojekte als Sieger hervor. Sie alle verfolgen einen integralen Systemansatz, der alle energierelevanten Wirtschaftsaktivitäten sowohl auf der Markt- als auch auf der technischen Betriebsebene einschließt. Mit Blick auf die große Bedeutung von E-Energy für den Ausbau der erneuerbaren Energien und die Erhöhung der Energieeffizienz erfolgt die Förderung der Modellprojekte in einer ressortübergreifenden Partnerschaft des BMWi mit dem Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit (BMU). Das BMWi stellt für vier Modellregionen bis zu 40 Mio. Euro bereit und das BMU übernimmt die Förderung von zwei weiteren Modellregionen mit bis zu 20 Mio. Euro. Damit werden zusammen mit den Eigenmitteln der beteiligten Unternehmen insgesamt etwa 140 Mio. Euro für den Aufbau der sechs E-Energy-Modellregionen mobilisiert. Alle Projekte sollen im vierten Quartal 2008 gestartet werden. Die ausgewählten Modellregionen sollen bis 2012 ihre erfolgversprechenden Vorschläge bis zur Marktreife entwickeln und ihre Marktfähigkeit im Alltag testen.

NRP II is the National programme for the research and development.

The main focus of the program is the research and technological development of software tools and applications enabling more efficient, faster and more reliably connect various entities to the level of  individuals. This will be enabled through optimized infrastructure and tools assurance two-way interactive mobile communications, while the use of information resources andwide application of knowledge databases.
It is therefore a technical solution to the intensive information networked society.
Research activities will focus on research on new platforms with a high degree of interoperability (connectivity), capable of massive parallel use (audiovisual
platforms and open platforms for various types application tasks). This will be a successful component interconnect solutions into larger units.
In response to the above infrastructure will be developed intelligent
decision-making, management and other modules based on the knowledge and intensively searching relevant data processing and often massive datasets.

The sub programme objectives are:
- To achieve better use properties of renewable energy sources (RES) with special attention to energy use of biodegradable waste and new structures of crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells.
- Develop effective energy storage systems, with special attention

The research programme for the period 2007-2011 in the area of the transport was called by the  Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic (MD).
The programme is structured into 4 subprogrammes:

1. Improving safety and reducing the negative effects

The transformation to the information society poses one of the greatest challenges for the coming years. Integration of the concept of sustainabi- lity into the development and application of information and communication technologies must play a central role in this process. This requires tools which provide businesses and industry with the necessary confidence to act. Project NIK addresses this challenge.    The objective of the project "Sustainability in the Information and Communication Technologies" (Nachhaltigkeit in der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik, or NIK) is to show industry how the economic potential of information and communication technologies (ICT) can be brought into harmony with the ecological and social requirements of sustainable development. This will be done by producing "paths of innovation" which identify the research and development necessary to attain sustain- ability in ICT. The participants of this project are making use of the instrument of road mapping to achieve this objective.

 The core mission of the LETS research program is to identify, explore and suggest ways that Sweden can implement low-carbon energy and transport systems for 2050, in order to reach the ambitious climate policy objectives suggested by the 2°C target.   

Hence, the overarching research question is:
What societal transitions are implied by low-carbon futures and how can thesetransitions be governed and implemented to meet challenging climate policy objectives? 

LETS will combine scientific excellence with close user interaction to ensure relevance and efficient dissemination of knowledge and results among key stakeholders. The objective is to produce new knowledge, but also to synthesize and interpret existing knowledge for more informed choices by decision makers, planners and other stakeholders. 

Low-carbon futures necessitate shifts to carbon-free energy carriers produced in low-carbon conversion processes and changes in consumption behavior. When accommodating such shifts, existing political and administrative regimes are challenged by the need for climate policy integration across policy domains, dynamic consistency, new planning tools and processes, ceding power to the appropriate level, etc.

Output
The outputs from LETS will range from high-level research based policy advice to tools and guidelines for the “street level” implementing agencies and other administrative bodies. The research team brings together key disciplines from social sciences, economics and engineering (i.e. energy and transport system studies).

Green IT is the study and practice of designing, manufacturing, using and disposing IT related hardware products in an efficient sustainable way with minimal or even no impact on the environment.

Green Software Engineering is the attempt to apply these "green" principles known from hardware products also on software products, software development processes and their underlying software process models.

The first main goal of the project is to to design a conceptual reference model supporting IT professionals and software users in the sustainable development and usage of software. The second main goal is to develop a software toolbox called "Sustainable Software Support Center" (S3C) that assists IT professionals in realizing systainable, resource-friendly software products.

The Municipality of Laives (Italy) aimed at assessing the current status of power usage in public buildings and in branches of its lighting network, evaluating so far the potentiality for improvement of power efficiency.
To this goal it performed a study on the power usage of 26 public buildings and municipal lighting network. The project makes available this study on the Web; through an interactive query interface and a simple mapping representation, it allows decision makers to adopt mitigation actions and to citizens to query and view power data on public buildings, thus fostering investments in new power sources.
